WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR CLASS?
It is essential to wear leggings that cover the backs of your legs. Also be prepared to remove jewellery and work in bare feet.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING TO THE CLASS?
Just a great positive enthusiastic attitude, and a bottle of water to stay hydrated. There is tap water at the studio if you need.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE CLASS?
This is not your average gym workout – we lift our body weight off the floor so be prepared to work hard and be challenged to try things you may not have done before. Don’t worry though as we break everything down and you always work to your own level so that there is something in it for everyone.
HOW STRONG DO I NEED TO BE?
You will need some upper body strength to be able to do this – being able to do a round of press ups is a good start! Try our Aerial Taster class first to see how you get along – if you really struggle we recommend you do our Pop Fit classes or Kickstart Program first to build strength before you start a course.
I’VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE
That’s ok! We love introducing people to aerial – no experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm.
SHOULD I DO HOOP OR SILKS?
Both have certain qualities and only you can decide. Generally hoop seems to be slightly easier as you get to sit in the hoop and do tricks from there (with the downside that your hands get kinda sore). The tricks with silks are more complicated and slower to learn at the beginning (and it’s also a bit tougher on the arms, in a tiring way and on your hands in a gripping way).
IF IN DOUBT COME TO AN AERIAL TASTER CLASS
If you can’t decide whether it’s hoop or silks that you want to do. I suggest coming to an Aerial Taster and give both a go and talk to the teacher as she will be able to assess and help you decide.
